We expect science fiction to take us to other planets. But in “Echo::System — Treadmill Dreamtime, Running in Place,” Grisha Coleman invites us into an imaginary “otherworld” here on Earth.

To geolocate more precisely, the choreographer-composer-academic brings her scientific yet fictional performance installation to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts starting Friday, April 15. When the audience crosses the threshold into the Forum, it will enter an alternate ecosystem conjured with architecture, video, software, postmodern dance and electroacoustic sound design.
